Sustainability

I. Our Physical Music

As a Record Label, the production of physical media (CDs, Vinyl etc.) is as environmentally friendly as possible. We are very lucky to work with independent pressing houses located in the UK, and we minimise all forms of plastic in the manufacture of these products. Where possible, we use environmentally friendly inks, and recycled card and paper for the product housing. We do understand that the manufacture of CDs, Vinyl, and other physical mediums for music do have an impact, however we are working towards solely using recycled materials, wherever possible, while still maintaining the highest quality of production. The entire production process takes place in the UK, in particular in England, and all of our partners are working towards meeting the same goals as us.

The quality of our products are designed to increase their longevity, while still being made in an eco-conscious way. An antithesis to disposable media, when looked after and cared for correctly, Millpost Records physical music will last for decades. In moving towards a zero-waste initiative, we do not use the classic jewel cases, and we are moving away from plastic inner trays, unless these are recycled, and recyclable.

II. Our Merchandise

Our merchandise used to made to order through drop-shipping companies, while being implemented into our site. We have decided to move away from this method of manufacture. Despite it being convenient, especially as we don't have to store the physical merchandise, it does have a very negative impact on the environment. Now, we are working with local printing and embroidery companies, while sourcing the highest quality of materials. We are striving towards working with 100% organic and sustainable cotton and/or wool for our clothing, and recycled metals and plastic for our badges, pins, and other products. With stickers, we are working towards sourcing locally printed, and environmentally friendly papers and plastics, at a quality that is designed to last, not just throw away.

III. In Packaging & Presentation

Millpost Records packaging for shipping are always made with FSC certified products. FSC cardboard, boards, and paper are made from a combination of materials from FSC-certified forests, recycled materials, and/or FSC-controlled woods. To make an FSC claim on a product, each party in the manufacturing supply chain must be FSC certified which includes regular audits. This ensures a commitment to the strictest standards currently governing responsible forest management to be able to sell products with an FSC label. By using FSC certified materials, support is given to zero forestation, supporting the change from preservation to conservation, ensuring a fair wage and work environment, and community rights.

All packaging that you receive your items in, including the shrink-wrap (if applicable), is fully recyclable at the end of life.

IV. In People

The entire packaging and item selection process currently takes place at our home office. This allows for full transparency across the process and guarantees the safety and welfare of the Millpost Records team. We understand that as a business, we have a responsibility to respect human rights. We follow the Modern-Day Slavery Act 2015 to guide us towards best practice in this area. We believe that everybody in the supply chain, including external contractors and companies, should be treated with respect and dignity. We also believe that each person should earn a fair wage and be recognised and valued equally. We aim to build modern and resilient supply chains that provide desirable jobs, foster people's skills, strengthen workers' voices, and advocate for vulnerable groups.
