ABOUT US

ABOUT US

Millpost Records was set up by folk musician, sound engineer, and producer, Jack Hogsden, after realising the sheer number of artists unable to release their music.  After much consideration, and through his own struggles on the circuit, Millpost Records was founded in 2020, just before the Covid-19 pandemic.  Since then, artists have been utilising Millpost Records for mixing, mastering, signing, and more.

Millpost Records is named after the "Millpost" in Glynde, East Sussex.  It stands on the top of the South Downs, and is all that is left of a windmill that collapsed in 1925.  It remains a key landmark in and around this area of Sussex, and this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty was a common escape for Jack during his younger years.

With such a strong focus on traditional folk music, we are also able to offer our signed artists access to our full catalogue of published works, private vinyls, and early recordings that have not yet been digitised.  With our advanced cataloguing system, you only need to let us know the song or ballad name, the relevant Roud, Child, Laws or EBBA number, or even just the book title.  In return, you have the lyrics, source notes, variations, and tunes, along with a range of information for use in everything from your sleeve notes to setlists.

This archival database was set up during Jack's time at university, and is cross referenced with all major online traditional song archives, meaning that we can point you in the right direction for any documented traditional material.

EQUIPMENT LIST

Here at Millpost Records, we are very proud with our collection of equipment, instruments, software, and more.  It you're after a classic vintage microphone, a beautiful piece of analogue hardware, the means to record on tape, or have an idea in mind, we can recreate it.  What's more, if you have a specific tool that you want us to use, let us know - we will do our best to get hold of it.
